Project History
Then in 1996, we approached the Poorman family about the prospect of selling the property, and after discussions, an agreement was made to purchase the property. We considered about how special this place was and decided that a large park with mature trees devoted to nature preservation could be used as the centerpiece for a unique master planned community. So we hired imaginative land planners to create a special plan for this "special place". The plan was crafted creating the unique and beautiful feeling that is the essence of WoodCreek Reserve.
WoodCreek Reserve combines nature preservation with a planned unprecedented residential amenity package. The old oaks and Buffalo Bayou had already naturally formed the park. It is a 100-acre nature park that follows the bayou conserving the natural beauty of the bayou (utilized as detention), the land, and Oak trees. This "Nature Reserve" is also a functional amenity for residents which includes; sports fields, wooded nature trails (over 1 mile in the trees), lakes stocked with fish, picnic areas located by old oaks, tennis courts and an overall green belted reserve. Along with the "Big 100-acre park" the residential side has more open space with the addition of 3 other parks located in different neighborhoods. All residential home sites are larger than average allowing the residents to get "more elbow room" and greener space around their homes.
In addition to a larger yard, residents get a private recreational center located in the trees by the bayou: It is complete with a pool, cabanas, and a playground area for kids. All communities in WoodCreek Reserve are connected by a "green-beltway system", that allows each resident access to the hundred acre park and the recreation center by walking trails that start at the home sites.
"Care and planning has gone into the pleasures that make up Woodcreek Reserve. Nestled along the Willow Fork of Buffalo Bayou, next to the big oaks and treed park inside the City of Katy and all her amenities, you'll find what was reserved by past generations for your family to enjoy now! "
